It's been a while since I shared a cooking video. I'm not the most confident at cooking 🙈 but it's during the slow seasons (aka no pop-ups) when I get to experiment and try new recipes. Also, the boys have been complaining that we eat the same thing everyday 🤪

Just 2 days ago, I found the viral no-water chicken soup recipe from @dearmama.char and I've already cooked it twice because it's so easy and so tasty 🤭 And the best part, the boys love it so much 😍

Since it's also the perfect weather for soups, I wanted to experiment and try it AGAIN but with fish instead. Although, I had a full afternoon running errands today, I still managed to cook and the little one wanted to join in.

When God asked me to embrace both motherhood and business, I didn’t realise how much I had separated the two. I definitely didn’t imagine how hard it would be either not just physically, but emotionally. The hardest part was mom-guilt and the fear of what people would think.

Before releasing my pop-up dates, I was so worried. But deep down, I knew exactly why God was asking us to do this. So I held on to His leading.

Mom-guilt crept in during a week-long pop-up at Guoco. It was the first time I brought my firstborn along for a whole day and whole week, and I worried he’d be bored, tired, or overwhelmed.

Two days later, a customer-turned-friend dropped by. I was shocked to see her because I thought she was away. When she said that in the morning she had a word from God for me and came down just to tell me, I was even more shocked. The first thing she said was, “The Lord wanted to assure you not to feel mom-guilt.” I remember thinking, Oh wow… even though I didn’t tell anyone about it, God knew. She then shared a vision of a beanstalk, rooted in the ground, reaching all the way to the heavens and how the things my son was learning by being there with me, watching faith and obedience being lived out, were being planted deep within him in ways that only experience can.

Looking back at that week, I may not fully understand everything he learnt, but I could see that something was happening quietly within him. In the small moments - helping without being asked, choosing to try again instead of giving up, finding ways to be creative when he was bored, and gathering the courage to welcome people who walked into our shop, I saw him growing.

And I’ve learnt too that God knows what’s on our hearts, He cares for me and my family, there’s no need to compare, and that motherhood and business can be one.

So maybe if you’re feeling a little anxious about what the new year will bring, I hope this encourages you that the Lord knows and He cares for you and your family too. Cast your cares unto Him. He is your shepherd. 🤗

Then God led us outside what we knew, and suddenly we felt like fish out of water, trying to find purpose again, trying to find our footing on unfamiliar ground. It would have been easier to go back, to return to what felt safe, but deep down we knew God was leading us forward.

The beginning of ChezHemdi was painful. We felt lost and unsure, and there were real financial struggles that made us question ourselves more than once. Some days were really hard. They gave us new fire and a renewed sense of purpose. What we thought would only be seasonal became something God used all year round, a simple way to share Jesus and sow seeds through the gifts He has given us.

God reminded us that these are seeds to be sown. And our prayer is that we’ll continue sowing together, trusting Him for a great harvest. 🤗🙌

As I took time to reflect on how this year turned out, it was very tempting to do a highlights video like we usually do to showcase the achievements and the “good parts.”

But the Lord gently challenged me not to.

This year started with many challenges on all fronts. So many transitions we had to learn how to sit with and walk through. Yet again and again, through both the small and big things, the Lord showed me how deeply He cares for me and my family, how He brings people into our midst at just the right time.

We are truly thankful and grateful for everyone, and for everything we’ve walked through this year, knowing just how faithful the Lord has been.

Thank you for coming alongside us. And my prayer for you is this — that you would choose to praise Him for this year, no matter how it turned out. Because He loves you, and He cares for you too. 🙌🤗

“Am I seeing what I’m seeing?”

That was her first thought when she spotted our ang pao designs at Public Garden, Christian-inspired artworks right in the middle of all the vendors. It sparked her curiosity to come by and find out more.

She shared how much she loved the ang paos, her friend got her an A3 poster, and what really encouraged me was that she came back again just to chat.

As we talked, I shared about someone’s mum, a pre-believer, who was drawn to one of our posters and wanted to know more. As I shared, she teared and told me she’s the only Christian in her family, believing and praying for them to know Jesus too.

We prayed for each other right there. And that was the best way to spend the day, encouraging one another on this journey of faith, trusting that God is gently at work, one small moment at a time 🤗

Looking back at the last few years, I’m so glad I made that decision. I’ve had the joy of watching him grow into this cute little one, a sweet boy who is fearless, yet thoughtful and wise. Still a baby at times, but already so ready to protect and stand up for those he loves.

You are so deeply loved, my dear one, and truly a gift from God. 💕😍🤗

They were so kind and so encouraging, sharing what they felt when they saw our pieces, taking time to really see and listen.

Then he said something so casually.
“It feels like I came to your house,” he shared like it felt warm, welcoming, and easy to just be here.

My eyes welled up instantly.
He had no idea why.

ChezHemdi literally means “At Hemdi’s house.” A space we hoped would feel safe, familiar, and full of heart where people would be blessed.

In that moment, it felt like such a gentle reminder of why we’re doing this, and how God often affirms us in the most unexpected ways.

Since it was her birthday yesterday, I gifted her one of our journals, for all that God is going to do through them, in ways they may not see yet.

I’m so, so grateful for every person God sends to our little shop. For every word of encouragement shared with us. And for this couple who chose to stop, to linger, to take time to talk and encourage me.

And later, they came back and wrote me a card, one I’ll treasure deeply. Thank you so much 🥹🤗

I remember wondering if people would skip our shop because of the Jesus poster.

Three years ago, when we had our ang paos for the first time at Public Garden, I was honestly quite worried about putting up this big red poster. I kept thinking people might walk past just because it says “Jesus”.

I shared this with my husband, and he reminded me that we are not ashamed of the gospel.

And over the years, so many people have told us, “I was actually attracted by this poster and walked over.” 😱

This year, we put it up even higher. And as people walked past, it was really encouraging to hear some say, “Oh, this is the Christian shop.”

But there were also others who mocked, who made unpleasant comments and I won’t lie, it did hurt 😔

A lot of people have asked us how we’re able to do so many pop-ups, sometimes even back to back.

When God whispered to our hearts to put these ang paos into as many hands as possible, we knew these are seeds to be sown. So we keep walking in obedience, only by the grace of God while believing for a great harvest.

And I think that’s what obedience often looks like. Not loud or confident or fully certain. Just choosing to say yes even when you're not sure.

To keep sowing the seeds you’ve been entrusted with.
Trusting that God sees every small act of faith, even the ones that feel unseen.

And that when He leads you somewhere, even into uncomfortable places, He also gives the grace to stand there. And that sometimes, the smallest yes is enough for Him to do far more than we could ever imagine. And He equips us for every place He calls us to shine.

I shared this with my husband, and he reminded me that we are not ashamed of the gospel.

And over the years, so many people have told us, “I was actually attracted by this poster and walked over.” 😱

This year, we put it up even higher. And as people walked past, it was really encouraging to hear some say, “Oh, this is the Christian shop.”

But there were also others who mocked, who made unpleasant comments and I won’t lie, it did hurt 😔

I was so shocked when he said he came all the way from KL just to get our Ang paos 😳 He told me we spoke last year around CNY via DM because he loved our ang pao design and wanted to get them. Unfortunately, we don’t ship internationally. I honestly didn’t expect this 😯

But it worked out that his friend invited him to an event in Singapore, and he decided he had to come by our shop. And what amazed me even more, it happened to be the same weekend I was at Christmas in Queenstown!

I’m truly blown away and so honored. I pray that the ang paos will be a great blessing to everyone who receives them. 🙏🤗

My husband thinks he’s “just helping,” but this Christmas Atelier really showed him that God sees every little thing he does. Most of the time he’s behind the scenes, carrying, setting up, fixing, drawing, packing, encouraging me, never asking for anything, always just showing up with me.

But this Christmas Atelier felt different.
In the middle of all the busyness, someone took a moment to pray over him and it meant more than words can say. It was like God gently reminding him that even the hidden parts, the quiet support, the unseen seeds over the years, none of it goes unnoticed 🥹

We are so so so grateful and thankful for everyone who dropped by our booth. Every word of encouragement, every prayer, every thoughtful conversation meant so much more than you can imagine 🤗

Thank you for showing up for us in ways big and small. Truly, God uses those around us to remind us that we’re not doing this alone. 💕

And if you’re the one faithfully serving in the background, the Lord sees you and everything you do. He who is faithful with little will be entrusted with much. 🤗

Today I took some time during the quiet afternoon to go upstairs to the food court for lunch alone. It was finally a little moment of peace after the whirlwind of setting up, media day, and the rush hour of Day 1 of The Christmas Atelier.

As I looked at our little booth from that perspective, I couldn’t help but feel emotional that we get to shine brightly for the Lord. 🥹🙌

This year, when we got invited to The Christmas Atelier, I honestly didn’t feel adequate or that we could do it. It felt really overwhelming. But when I told my pastor I didn’t have the faith for it, he simply asked: “But you were invited right?” ☺️

I feel so grateful that we get to be here once again, among 100 local brands, some really super well established.

Trust the Lord with all your heart. He’s already gone ahead of you in ways you can’t see. He’s the one who opened the door, and He’ll carry you through. Often, He uses the smallest yes to do the biggest things and He equips us for every place He leads us into.

We are small but we have a BIG God 🙌🥹

In the middle of all that, as I prayed, I felt the Lord whisper: “Embrace your season.” A season that’s stretching, refining, and teaching me to lean on Him more than ever. 🥹

The preparation these past few months has been intense, but the reminder that this is "His Store" through a prophetic word has been my anchor and the reason I’ve had the faith to keep going. The boys have also been helping in their small little ways, and this year, they’ll be joining us at the fair too 🙈🤪

My heart for this Atelier is simple: to create a space where you can come, feel at home (ChezHemdi means “my house”), and be refreshed, blessed, inspired, and encouraged. Our collection this year carries that same heart, pieces that gently remind you to embrace your season, to look up, and to remember His faithfulness in every part of your journey.

And so the dream of being part of The Christmas Atelier continues this year. It still feels surreal, and it’s such an honour to be invited once again. 🤗

But this year, I honestly felt so inadequate and overwhelmed. With my firstborn starting Primary 1, motherhood and entrepreneurship collided in a whole new way, and I wasn’t sure we’d be able to pull this off. In the middle of all that, as I prayed, I felt the Lord whisper: “Embrace your season.” A season that’s stretching, refining, and teaching me to lean on Him more than ever. 🥹

The preparation these past few months has been intense, but the reminder that this is "His Store" through a prophetic word has been my anchor and the reason I’ve had the faith to keep going. The boys have also been helping in their small little ways, and this year, they’ll be joining us at the fair too 🙈🤪

Have you ever felt like it’s so hard to share your faith with your loved ones? I get it. My parents are non-Christians too, and sometimes I really don’t know what to say. When it comes to family, it just feels harder because they’ve seen every side of us.

That’s one of the reasons why we designed our ang paos to be fun, cute, and relatable to make sharing Jesus with the people you love just a little easier. Some of you even call it a Christian version of “Where’s Wally” but “Where’s Jesus?” 😂

And this year’s design is "The Parables of Jesus."

Inspired by the 40 parables, the simple stories Jesus used to show us what God’s Kingdom is like and how we’re called to live with faith, wisdom, and compassion. When you put all the stories together, everything points back to one thing: Love.

A love that forgives, welcomes, gives generously, and sees people the way God does.

Our prayer is that this year’s ang pao and poster will be a reminder that love is often the simplest and most powerful way to point someone to Jesus. 💛

If you’re in a season where sharing your faith feels scary, here’s your reminder: you don’t need the perfect words. Just keep loving them the way Jesus loves you. He’s already working in their hearts, even if you can’t see it yet.

POV: What redeeming time with my firstborn looks like?

My husband has been showing me old photos and videos lately and wah, my heart.
He was so small, so cute and honestly, when I look at those moments now, I realise I missed a lot of that phase.

Back then, I was working full-time and everything felt like survival mode. Then the second one came along and everything just became a blur.

But now?
Now I get to spend every afternoon with him and it feels like God handed me back time I thought I lost.

I’m really enjoying this stage, the outings to the library, the conversations, the random thoughts he shares, the laughters, watching his personality and values take shape right in front of me.

I’m grateful I got to bring him along to the Affordable Art Fair too even if my heart dropped a few times when he said, “Mummy…I really want to touch this!” 🙈🤪

And I guess this is what I’m learning:
No matter how old our kids are, every stage has something worth noticing, something worth holding on to when we’re present with them.

And if you’re in a different season right now, working, juggling, overwhelmed, or just trying your best, please know this:

There’s no “perfect time” to be a mum. God meets us in every season, and He can redeem every moment in ways we don’t even expect. 🥹

I totally get it. In my 11 years in corporate, there were so many moments I felt ready to give up and just throw in the towel. But somehow, there was always a word in season — a text, a friend, a prayer that came at the right time to keep me going.

God really does know the desires of our hearts and He has the sweetest sense of humour too. 😄

Last Friday morning, I rushed to open the booth without breakfast and was craving my favourite Toastbox teh and ham & cheese sandwich. I thought maybe I’d grab it later, but just then a lady came by with a big cup of teh and a ham & cheese sandwich! 🥹

It was the only time the whole week someone brought that exact thing I was thinking about. And I knew it wasn’t just about the food. It was God’s gentle reminder that He sees me, is with me, and hears even the smallest desires of my heart. 🤗

If you’ve been waiting or wondering if God hears you, I hope this story shows you that He does.

Sometimes His reminders come in the most unexpected, ordinary ways. 😍

I keep replaying the whole sequence of events and I can’t help but be amazed by how good God is.

You might have seen the story I shared earlier this week, but here’s how it all started. I had just opened that day and was waiting quietly for the crowd to come. Then two girls walked over. They were looking at everything and suddenly one of them said, “My friend literally gave me your card like 2 days ago.” I was pretty amazed because she didn’t know I was here.

As I shared with them about the Ang Pao design, they said they would bring their friend over later. I went to fetch the firstborn from school and totally forgot about it because I was thinking more about what to feed him. Just as we reached the pop-up, they walked over at the same time.

I blessed him with a poster and thought maybe his parents might be interested to look at it since it’s so cute, little did I know he would send me that message the next day. I kept thinking about the whole sequence of events. The girls probably wouldn’t have walked over if they didn’t recognise the card that was given to her. And if they had come earlier, they would have missed us completely. None of this is coincidence.

And the story doesn’t end here. A few days later someone came by and when he made payment, he said, “I want to bless you back for blessing the uni student with the poster.” I went to sit down afterwards and teared thinking about it.

This is how God works, meticulously and perfectly. I’m reminded of the story where the shepherd goes after the one. And it all started with someone writing one of our cards to that girl. You never know where the cards you write go to and the bigger story God is writing. 🤗

I didn’t expect to see her again today. She walked past earlier and was drawn to our artworks. She told me she was a visual comms graduate from Indonesia and wanted to get a Jesus poster for her pastor, but she didn’t have enough cash and planned to come back the next day.

So when she suddenly showed up again with food, a drink, and a sweet handwritten note, I was honestly so surprised and extremely touched.

She shared that she had been feeling homesick because it was her first time away from her family, and that when I prayed for her earlier, she felt so much better and encouraged.

When she told me she came to Singapore for mission school and did street evangelism, I felt led to bless her with our Miracles of Jesus journal. I told her this was a journal for her to write the miracles God will do through her. She asked me to write a message inside and sign it so she would remember this moment because she wasn't sure when she'd be able to come back to Singapore.

I’m so thankful I got to meet her. She reminded me of myself when I first moved here all alone. And again, I’m reminded that God is the one who brings the right people to the booth, in His perfect timing, so we can be a blessing and an encouragement to one another 🤗

I didn’t expect to see her again today. She walked past earlier and was drawn to our artworks. She told me she was a visual comms graduate from Indonesia and wanted to get a Jesus poster for her pastor, but she didn’t have enough cash and planned to come back the next day.

So when she suddenly showed up again with food, a drink, and a sweet handwritten note, I was honestly so surprised and extremely touched.

She shared that she had been feeling homesick because it was her first time away from her family, and that when I prayed for her earlier, she felt so much better and encouraged.

When she told me she came to Singapore for mission school and did street evangelism, I felt led to bless her with our Miracles of Jesus journal. I told her this was a journal for her to write the miracles God will do through her. She asked me to write a message inside and sign it so she would remember this moment because she wasn't sure when she'd be able to come back to Singapore.

I’m so thankful I got to meet her. She reminded me of myself when I first moved here all alone. And again, I’m reminded that God is the one who brings the right people to the booth, in His perfect timing, so we can be a blessing and an encouragement to one another 🤗

He was so drawn to our Jesus poster, amazed by all the details and the thought that went into it. You could tell how much he liked it, but he shared that being a university student, he could only get one for his mentor who was moving into a new house. He thought it’d be a meaningful gift and a great way to share about Jesus.

She said she saw our poster about the Life of Jesus online and came specially to get it in person. I was showing her the posters when she mentioned she’s bringing it overseas to her new home in Jakarta! 🥹

I was so touched that our faith-based art gets to travel to places even we haven’t been. It’s such a sweet reminder that He sends our artworks where we can’t go but He can. 💛

The beginning of a pop-up is always quite nerve-wracking, the setup, the packing, wondering if I’ve brought enough, and not knowing how the day will turn out. Will people come, drop by, stop to chat?

But through it all, there are so many moments to be thankful to God for

- My husband who spent his birthday leave helping me to set up
- The little one who still likes to tag along
- A good cup of tea from @toastboxsg
- A little window shopping & the sweetest goodbyes
- A church friend who dropped by to say hi and brought Toastbox while keeping me company
- Customers who stopped by
- A lady who came specially to get our Jesus poster for her new home in Jakarta!!!
- For a dear friend who cooked hot soup for us after a long day.

So many reminders that I’m not doing this alone 🤗 God’s been with us through every step, every detail, every small grace.

So thankful for His faithfulness and that I get to do something I love, creating faith-based art that points people back to hope and joy in Him.

✨ Life Update Part 3 ✨

That’s how I felt after a few big events we’ve had. I’d look around and everyone seems 20 years younger 😅 You might say, “Oh, you don’t look so old!” but the voices in my head would whisper, “You’re turning 44, you have 2 kids… what are you doing here among the young people?”

We all have those quiet battles and insecurities. But in the middle of it, God whispered to me “Embrace your season.” over and over again.

It’s one thing to know your season, but to truly embrace it that’s something else entirely.

As I took time to reflect, this new ChezHemdi art collection started to unfold. The verse that came to mind was “Look at the lilies of the field” from Matthew 6:28–30. It reminds us to trust God’s provision and let go of anxiety because He cares for even the flowers.

Then Ecclesiastes 3:1,11 echoed in my heart “There is a time for everything and He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

These verses came together as the heart behind my “Embrace Your Season” collection, a reminder that just as God tends to the flowers in their time, He’s also tending to us.

This collection is special! It's my first time painting florals on such big pieces which is a big leap of faith for me. Each piece is a quiet reminder that there’s purpose in every season, grace in the growing, and hope blooming in its own time.

Can’t wait to share it with you at The Christmas Atelier 2025 and maybe a few sneaks before that (because I usually can’t contain my excitement 😆).

The unglamorous side of running a small creative business with purpose.

The idea of running your own business, being your own boss is often romanticised. And while it is deeply fulfilling, there’s also a lot of unseen hard work behind the scenes.

Stocking up at @thecommandmentco usually starts with preparing the DO, double-checking quantities, printing out the cards, and then the packing, and packing, and packing. Somehow, it always takes way longer than I plan for.

Before I know it, it’s already time for the little one to come back from school.

Lunch happens somewhere in between.

Then it’s time to head out, carrying everything. We decided to take a taxi this time because it was just too heavy to bring on the bus. 😅

But nothing compares to the friendships built along the way, the kind faces that greet me at @thecommandmentco, the way they always make space for a catch-up, laughter, and grace.

Their patience when I’ve had to reschedule (again 🙈), their prayers, and the encouragement that somehow always comes at the right time - it’s more than just a stockist relationship; it’s community.

And every time I see our faith-based cards sitting on their shelves among so many other Christian gifts and handmade creations, I’m reminded that this little creative business in Singapore is part of something bigger.

That what we create can go places we can’t, but God can.
