Last week at the pop-up, my son came along with me and during some of the quieter moments when we were honestly a little bored, we decided to do a fun little reel together 🤭

Just us, our everyday outfits, and some of the pieces we have at the booth.

Nothing planned, nothing fancy. Just what we would usually wear, captured in a simple moment.

I didn’t expect these small, in-between moments to mean so much, but they really do 🤗

I thought he'd be too shy but he surprised me!

A lady dropped by the booth while my firstborn and I were playing board games behind the booth.

She shared that she picked a few stickers for her daughter who was having a tough time. We started chatting for a bit, and even my son joined in, talking to her about Zootopia like he knew her.

We felt to bless her and I asked my firstborn to give her the alphabet poster which he drew. I thought he'd say no because he'd be too shy.

But he began explaining it to her. The characters he drew, what each one meant, how he thought about them.

I could see he was a little nervous, but he kept going. Stepping out of his comfort zone, one sentence at a time.

She listened so warmly, smiled, and encouraged him. She thanked him for sharing and said it would inspire her kids too.

He probably didn’t think much of that moment but I did. I was so proud of him for trying, for being brave, for sharing.

I’m learning from him that the smallest moments can hold the biggest courage, and when we take that step, we might encourage someone more than we know ☺️🤗

I’m happy my husband got to experience this today. He doesn’t always get to see or hear your encouragement first hand, so this meant a lot. ☺️

While he was at the shop, someone dropped by and shared that he was looking for something meaningful to give.

He saw our greeting cards, and my husband started sharing the stories behind each one and he really liked the stories, especially knowing my husband is the one who draws all the dinos behind our cards.

As they continued chatting, he shared that he’s the only Christian in his family, and had been looking for ang paos for his nephews and nieces but couldn’t find any nice ones.

So he went to Chinatown to buy a bunch just for practical reasons. But when he saw ours, he said, “I wish I saw your ang paos earlier.”

These are the moments that remind us why we keep showing up for pop-ups, because we never know who God sends to our shop. 🤗

We’re pressing pause at ChezHemdi for a while.

This wasn’t an easy decision. Closing the shop, even for a month, comes with its own anxieties especially financially. But after a lot of thinking and praying, I knew I needed to say yes to this.

I’ve decided to go back to school and be fully present as a student again. The last time I sat in a classroom like this was in 2012, when I went to bible school.

But over the last 5 years of running ChezHemdi, I realised I’ve always been investing into everything else except myself.

One night, while encouraging my firstborn not to give up on soccer, I felt the Lord gently ask me, “What about you?”

I’ve been thinking about this course for more than a year, but kept holding back. This time, I knew I needed to trust God and take that step.

So here I am excited, nervous, and stepping out of my comfort zone.

We’ll be closing the shop from 23 March until May, and all orders will be sent after.

And maybe this is your reminder too. If there’s something you’ve been thinking about, maybe it’s time to take that step. You don’t have to have it all figured out, just be willing to say yes and trust God with the rest.

Thank you for being here and walking this season with us. As we press pause and step into something new, we’re still learning, still trusting, still choosing to walk by faith.
